To keep in line with the BLOODHOUND unveiling on September 25th & 26th and next year’s attempt to break the current land speed record, this episode’s topic will center around the engineering design process as opposed to the scientific method. Follow the link to science buddies for the complete details, but to get your mind revved up for the task (yeah, I said it), here’re a few things you’ll want to have on hand IF you want to go the 2015 Fluor Engineering Challenge route:
- four CDs;
- two 9 inch Latex balloons;
- two jumbo straws, approximately 1/2 inch diameter and 9 inches long
- Yes, these "milkshake straws" or "smoothie straws" sound specific, but its sticks to the specific challenge;
- two 7 3/8 inch long wooden pencils;
- ten sheets of paper, 8.5 x 11 inch;
- six jumbo paper clips, 1 3/4 inch long;
- one roll of Scotch® tape
- and scissors that are allowed as a tool only, not a construction material
