We’re going to use a balloon to help tell us how the volume in your lungs is affected by exercise! This is in part, a project I used to run with my 7th graders and part ScienceBuddies experiment. You will need:
- Round balloons (12 or 14 inch diameter should be good)
- A long piece of string (16 inches long)
- Tape measure (paper or cloth if possible) or ruler
- Masking tape
- Marker
How far around did the paper ruler or string go around your balloon? What will be the difference in the balloon's size before and after exercising?
